In 1915, Maggie Walker purchased a life insurance policy for her husband Armstead Walker. Tragically, in 1915 her son Russell mistook Armstead for a burgular, shot and killed him. After a 5 year court battle Russell was aquitted in 1920. Walker was then able to sue the insurance company and received full death benefits plus interest.
